Support / How do I set up live pass/fail tests?
Instrumental’s Monitor AI allow you to easily create your own AI tests which can look for specific defects live on the line, to prevent escapes and rework.

Create a Monitor
The first step is to create a monitor for the defect you’re interested in. Once you have a monitor running it will evaluate every unit inspection that is uploaded to Instrumental’s cloud application. With a few simple steps, however, Monitors can be set to run directly on the Instrumental station on the factory floor, alerting operators and MES routing to defects in real-time.
Find the Monitor
Once you’ve created the monitor you’d like to use as a live pass/fail test on your line, you can find it on the Monitor page. Using either the search in the left side filters (1), or the pareto chart or heatmap at the top of the page (2), find the specific monitor you’d like to review:
Before you turn the monitor live, we recommend that you review recent predictions to ensure that it has exhibited an appropriate level of accuracy. You can scroll through the most recently “Failed” units directly on the monitor’s card, or click on the monitor’s name to open a full page view in a separate tab to more easily review all results.
If you are seeing a number of false positives you may want to re-label those results to re-train the monitor, and then let the monitor run on the cloud for a while longer before reassessing its performance.
Set the Monitor to Intercept on the Line
If the monitor’s performance is acceptable you can turn the monitor live with the “Live intercept” toggle in the lower left corner of the monitor’s card. When a Monitor is “Live” the station will alert operators through a stack light and station UI “NG” warnings each time this issue occurs so the operator can take corrective action.
If the Live intercept toggle is disabled, that means that your account does not have permission to push the Monitor to the station, and you will need to discuss with your project lead or Instrumental representative. Live Intercepts require an Instrumental Station or In-Factory Server.
