Q&A

What does your typical day look like at Instrumental?

There isn’t really a “typical day” for a Solutions Architect, but that’s why I love the position. One day I will join 5 meetings with my Account Executives to scope out customer needs, and on another I could be working with our product team to help create internal tools to streamline our deploy process. Most days involve at least a few internal meetings to make sure that I am pulling in the same direction as our entire go to market team, as well as some large blocks of time to get more strategic initiative work done.

Why did you choose Instrumental?

I chose Instrumental because I truly believe in the product and the problem it solves. As a mechanical engineer who has worked in the manufacturing space for a few years, I know how painful the process can be. It’s messy, slow and can be incredibly frustrating. When I heard about Instrumental, I was shocked that someone hadn’t thought of this before.

I also joined Instrumental because of the amazing people who work here. It’s rare to find a company that is full of people who are both intelligent and kind, and Instrumental seems to be bursting at the seams with them. It’s a joy to work with such talented, helpful coworkers.

Tell us one thing that people may not know about you.

I was a DI rower all throughout college at Stanford. I spent most of my time when I wasn’t in class on the water in the Port of Redwood City! I love the sport, and my teammates, and still talk to many of them regularly. My mom actually rows now too, so we get to spend time when I’m back home on the water together.

Since joining Instrumental, what has been your favorite memory working here?

My favorite memory has to be when the Solutions team got together during the holiday season to look at Holiday lights together. We rode a pedal bike through a beautifully decorated neighborhood, and listened to holiday music the entire time. It was a really great way to celebrate the season with my coworkers.

What is your favorite Instrumental Slack Channel and why?

My favorite Instrumental Slack channel is the we-love-to-read channel. It’s our bookclub slack channel, and it’s always fun choosing our next book together. We have some really in-depth conversations about the meaning of what we read, and some silly conversations about how long it’s taking us all to finish. Plus, it’s a great way for me to talk to my coworkers about something other than work.

What do you like most about your job?

I really like that I get to work with an incredible team that gets to bring the Instrumental platform to new users. There is nothing more gratifying than seeing a customer understand the power of what we can do for them for the first time, or watching our machine learning systems find new issues within 24 hours of the first units being put through the line.
